We initially selected a few different cities for discussion, and found Kuala Lumpur to be the ideal choice, as it's the closest city to us and also the city where we currently live. Next, we narrowed down the most relevant issues for discussion: Kuala Lumpur's public transportation and pedestrian safety, leading to five different proposed solutions.
Based on feedback, we improved the concept of portability, focusing on specific user groups and practical applications. We re-discussed, removed unrealistic ideas, and enhanced the final design.
Fig 2.1 Idea 1
First is the improved bus station, designed to transform traditional bus stops into smart and inclusive public spaces. Our design is centered on three main user groups: elderly people who are not accustomed to smartphone applications, visually impaired individuals who need voice navigation, and commuters who require fast, reliable information. The core of the center is an LED display screen that clearly shows bus arrival times and the next stop in Bahasa, English, and Chinese, enabling all user groups to easily access information.Fig 2.2 Idea 2
Our second idea is "Community Mobility Partner," a concept specifically designed for the community. It addresses the difficulty many people face with using smartphones while redesigning bulletin boards in older communities, making each announcement more prominent, and upgrading old communities, providing practical solutions.Fig 2.3 Idea 3
The third concept is a guide system specifically designed for visually impaired users. By combining Braille signage, 3D maps, and audio guidance, it provides safer and more convenient navigation for people with disabilities in urban spaces.3. Feedback
Week 1:
Finalized group of 6 members for Group 20, discussed and figured out the city that we want to choose through online discussion.
Week 2:
This week, three members of our team were absent from the tutorial class. As one of the members who were present, I attempted to contact them but didn't receive an immediate response. There was also no prior notification, and no follow-up reminders or explanations were provided.
Since only three people were available, decisions on task division couldn't be made, and as a result, little progress was made. We had to move some discussions to next week and to be held online, which led to our progress being very slow.
Week 3:
Last final week, we finished all the presentation slides, got the reflection from our tutor, and recorded viedo by using Zoom after we finished improving our ideas.
